Balance/Vestibular Therapy

Vestibular Therapy is a combination of mechanical positioning and adaptive exercises for the nervous and muscular systems in order to improve symptoms such as dizziness, unsteadiness, vertigo, or fear of falling.

Here at Fyzical Therapy & Balance Centers Conroe we specialize in the treatment of balance dysfunction. What makes us different from any other physical therapy clinic? The difference is our safety overhead supports (SOS) in our commitment to patient safety and positive outcomes. Traditional physical therapy uses a gait belt, which is a strong fabric belt that is dependent on the strength and skill of the therapist to keep a patient safe from falling or serious injury. The SOS is a rail or ceiling mount with a strong rope secured to a harness as pictured below. This setup prevents the patient from hitting the ground in the event of a loss of balance during therapy while also allowing for faster decreases in external support. This allows for use of higher level exercises and a faster recovery rate because the body is able to safely experience an “error message” in order to improve the systems responsible for our balance.
